Beth, Eric, and Sophie Schiavino-Narvaez

Beth and Eric moved from Stamford, CT to Springfield in 2009. They had previously spent several years in the Berkshires and Philadelphia. Beth is a graduate student at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and started working for the Springfield Public Schools. Her job did not require that she live in Springfield, but she and Eric were committed to living in the city – even though friends tried to dissuade them and suggested Longmeadow instead.

The family loves living downtown. They are frequent visitors to the Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle, and continue to be amazed and impressed by the quality of the holdings and the programming at the museums. They love Forest Park and Six Flags and attend events at the MassMutual center.

“We’re really pleased we moved here,” says Beth. “It’s a beautiful street in a historic neighborhood and we got to know our neighbors really quickly. We find so much to do in the city. Although we thought we’d be spending a lot of time in Northampton, we haven’t actually been there once since we moved here!”

They were pleasantly surprised to find so many families with young children living downtown. Sophie has several playmates in the neighborhood. The parents are very happy with the quality of public education in the city, too.

To those considering a move to the city, the Schiavino-Narvaez family says, “See for yourself.”
